Lip Blushing Pre-care
Lip Blush Preparation
Preparing your lips before your appointment is essential for beautiful, long-lasting results. Healthy, hydrated lips allow pigment to heal more evenly and produce the best outcome.
5 Days Before Your Appointment
Start preparing your lips with a simple daily routine:
Apply Vitamin A&D ointment throughout the day to keep your lips hydrated.
After showering, gently exfoliate your lips (especially the center) with a soft lip scrub, then apply another layer of Vitamin A&D.
A simple DIY scrub can be made with equal parts brown sugar, honey, and olive oil.
Pain Preparation
Everyone experiences discomfort differently. To keep you comfortable, a professional topical anesthetic will be applied before and throughout your procedure.
Before your appointment:
Avoid Aspirin, Ibuprofen, and other blood-thinning medications for at least 24–72 hours (unless prescribed by your physician).
Tylenol may be taken about 30 minutes before your appointment if needed.
Cold Sores
If you have ever had a cold sore, fever blister, or oral herpes, please contact your physician before your appointment to obtain an antiviral medication such as Valtrex® or Zovirax®. Preventative medication is strongly recommended, as the procedure may trigger an outbreak.
If you've recently had a cold sore, please wait at least 4 weeks after it has fully healed before scheduling your Lip Blush appointment.
Additional Guidelines
For the best healing and pigment retention, please:
Keep your lips well hydrated and free of dryness, cracks, peeling, or irritation.
Avoid excessive sun exposure and tanning before your appointment.
Avoid caffeine for 24 hours before your procedure.
Avoid alcohol for 5 days before and 3 days after your appointment.
Do not exercise on the day of your appointment.
Avoid chemical peels, laser treatments, and Botox for 2 months before your procedure.
Schedule your appointment at least 6 weeks before or after any lip filler or injections.
Let your artist know if you use Retin-A or any prescription skincare medications.
Please Note: If your lips are dry, cracked, peeling, irritated, or have active scabs on the day of your appointment, your service may need to be rescheduled to ensure the best possible results.
Women may also experience increased sensitivity, bleeding, and reduced pigment retention during or around their menstrual cycle. If possible, avoid scheduling your appointment 5 days before, during, or 5 days after your cycle.
Lip Blushing Aftercare
Lip Blush Aftercare
Proper aftercare is essential for beautiful, long-lasting healed results. Mild swelling, tenderness, and flaking are completely normal during the healing process.
Immediately After Your Appointment
Apply an ice pack for 10–15 minutes every hour during the first 4–8 hours to help reduce swelling.
Keep your lips moisturized with the recommended aftercare ointment.
First 2 Days
Cleanse your lips 3 times daily (morning, afternoon, and evening) using only the provided antiseptic wipes.
Do not use water, facial cleansers, or any other products on the treated area.
Apply a very thin layer of Vitamin A&D ointment throughout the day using a clean cotton swab.
Keep your lips consistently moisturized, but avoid applying excessive ointment, which may affect pigment retention.
Before showering or brushing your teeth, apply an extra layer of ointment to protect your lips.
Use only a small amount of toothpaste, as toothpaste and mouthwash can affect fresh pigment.
First 7 Days
Please avoid:
Touching, licking, biting, peeling, picking, or scratching your lips.
Water, makeup, lotions, or soap on the treated area.
Strenuous exercise or excessive sweating.
Spicy or extremely hot foods and drinks.
Lipstick or other lip cosmetics.
Direct contact with bodily fluids.
Drink through a straw whenever possible.
First 14 Days
Avoid:
Swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas, and long hot showers.
Sun exposure and tanning beds.
Facials, waxing, threading, laser treatments, and other skin treatments around the area.
Petroleum-based products such as Vaseline or Neosporin.
Dusty or unsanitary environments whenever possible.
First 30 Days
Avoid prolonged sun exposure, as UV rays can cause premature fading or alter the healed color.
Do not use skincare products containing retinol, glycolic acid, fruit acids, alcohol, or exfoliating ingredients on or around the treated area.
Healing Expectations
Your lips will appear brighter immediately after your appointment before gradually softening as they heal. Flaking and temporary color loss are a normal part of the healing process. Allow your lips to heal naturally, and avoid picking at any peeling skin to ensure the best color retention.
